Zoom

We are occasionally bringing you competitions, speakers, and member discussions using the popular teleconference software, Zoom.

Zoom allows us to collaborate with judges, speakers and other clubs from anywhere in the country – or indeed the world, bringing a wider choice of content.

We are also able to record some of the meetings and are able to offer a “catch-up” service to those who are unable to participate on the night.

Zoom Etiquette

Making meetings run smoothly

A few tips to help us run things smoothly:

  1. Some members have slower connections. Please help them by turning your camera OFF during the presentation.
  2. Please mute your microphone during the presentation. If you need to ask a question or contribute press and hold the <SpaceBar> to temporarily unmute.
  3. There is a slight delay in the sound and video: When speaking, allow others the opportunity to join in by making longer than usual pauses when speaking.
  4. Try not to ‘talk over’ other people.

Need help getting online with Zoom?

We'd like to ensure as many members as possible are able to join us in our Zoom meetings.

There can be many different reasons why it might not be possible for you to join us using Zoom. If you’re having difficulty, we’d like to help you…

  • If you don’t have an internet connection you can dial in by telephone to hear the meeting.
  • You don’t need to create a log-in or an account with Zoom to attend a meeting.
  • If you don’t want to use Zoom on your computer (maybe it is a work computer and not allowed), you can use it on a Smartphone or Tablet. (A good inexpensive option is the Amazon Fire 8HD tablet)
  • If you’re struggling to get Zoom working then there are some very useful guides on the Zoom website
  • If you just need a helping hand, contact us and one of our members will be in touch to see how they can assist you.
