Photography is one of the best pastimes: Whether you come from an artistic or technical angle you can have fun creating images. Outdoor photography can help keep you keep fit, and fits in with other activities. If the weather’s not go great there’s plenty that can be done indoors. There’s always something new to see and learn or an image that surprises you and makes you wonder ‘how did they do that?’
What’s the difference between a snap most people scroll past without thinking and an image that stops you in your tracks? Most people just take a picture and move on. Photographer’s make a picture. Creation and intent make the difference.
Why Join A Camera Club?
Our club is an active community where:
- There’s a very active WhatsApp group
- We have official access to photograph local events
- Members help each other with techniques and equipment.
- You’ll get inspiration and ideas by seeing other people’s pictures.
- Competitions provide motivation and fun
- Judges give feedback critique on member’s images.
- You get opportunities to photograph things like birds of prey, and professional models,
- You can try out new equipment and techniques
- There’s a friendly social scene
Overall it is a great environment to improve and hone the art of making images instead of just taking them.
What to Expect?
We run a formal programme from September to May. There are four kinds of meetings:
- Competitions
- Talks/Lectures
- Practical Workshops
- Social Occasions
Many meetings are led by professionals we engage, but we are lucky enough to have some very experienced members in the club who also lead some meetings.
In the summer during the summer break we continue to meet fortnightly for photowalks in the local area, and usually a social BBQ event.
The Details
- Where: Marlow Methodist Church Hall (Please park in Dean St or Riley Road Car Parks. Parking at the hall is very limited and reserved for speakers)
- When: Tuesdays, 7:30pm for 8pm start (Free tea and coffee 7:30pm) Meetings typically end around 10pm.
- How Much: A full season’s membership is 80.00 which includes everything.
Prospective members are invited to try us out for a couple of meetings before joining. (Note that competition entry and WhatsApp group membership is restricted to full members.)
