We offer potential new members the opportunity to try before they buy. You can attend a couple of meetings before committing to membership.
Subs are £70 for the year, to include refreshments during the break. They are due at the beginning of the club season in September. Members who join after Christmas pay a pro-rata sum.
Fees are reduced for those in full time education. Under 14’s may attend with a responsible adult.
Marlow Camera Club meets at the Methodist Church Hall in Marlow, off Spittal Street.
We recommend parking in the Trinity Road car park where Trinity Road joins Dean Street. Currently this car park is free after 7pm and is a very short walk to the church hall.

Tuesday 28th November 2023 we had a workshop session about Focus Stacking and High Dynamic Range (HDR) from one of our club members, Steven Galvin. Steven clearly put a lot of work and thought into the workshop and brought loads of equipment. We are all very thankful for such an educational, informal and social evening. Thank you Steven! One of the important parts of Focus-Stacking Steven wanted us to achieve is to compare an image where focus was made sharp from front to back, with an image where we were selective in how much we wanted in focus; hence my two examples. (The second image choosing to only have two dolls in focus.) For interest I have added a couple of screen shots of the Serif Affinity program doing its work. For the HDR I let the Canon R5 do its work in camera, selecting from many options, ‘Auto’ and ‘Natural’. This has given the HDR image a subtle and natural look, while showing more details in the shadows and bringing down the highlights. ... See MoreSee Less

Marlow Camera Club hosted a wonderful night with Robert Snary from Enfield Camera Club, Tuesday 21st November 2023. It was Robert’s second visit – we enjoyed his last visit so much. Plenty to learn, especially handling exposure. With long exposures of the light source itself (Robert's lights), shutter speed won’t control how bright those lights are going to be, one has to rely on ISO and aperture. Shutter speed will have an influence on how bright your background is going to be. As far as shutter is concerned, I chose to use the Bulb setting in order to precisely time the duration of Robert’s movements. For photos with a dark background I kept the ISO low (100), for shots where I wanted to show the background I raised the ISO (400) and used larger apertures (typically f2.8). I also tried a few other techniques like intentional camera movement (ICM), rotating the camera (roll from portrait to landscape during the shot) and zoom bursts. Many thanks go to Robert for a great night. If you haven't tried light painting, have a go, it is a lot of fun. Jon ... See MoreSee Less
