How to take better Pictures

Marlow Camera Club present a short introductory course in Photography, open to everyone. Over four weeks, you’ll learn the essentials of photography in a fun and friendly workshop atmosphere.

In week one, we start by covering how a modern camera works, lenses, the digital sensor and image files. There is then a practical introduction to the exposure triangle and you’ll learn how to take control of your images by using manual controls.

The session will be a tutorial followed by a practical session using your cameras.

A homework exercise will be given based on the session for review in Week 2.

Week two we take a look at composition, how to get the best out of the light, and techniques to ensure your images are always sharp. There will be a practical emphasis with exercises to demonstrate the techniques.

Practical session, using your own camera will include portraits, still life, and making the best use of available light indoors.

A homework exercise will be set for review in week 3

This session is mostly based on a computer and concentrates on post processing.

We introduce a basic photo editor, and how to resize, print, save and archive your images safely.

Then we move on to some basic editing functions, such as cropping, removing spots, cloning, etc.

In the final session we head out and about in picturesque Marlow to put what we have learned into practise for an hour. Then we return to the class room to download edit and share the images. Coaching will be given throughout the session to bring all of the techniques learned into play.

The course includes 20% off Annual Membership of Marlow Camera Club so you can continue to learn and apply your photography with our exciting programme of events for 2018/19.
